If you have a disability, you may be able to request specific arrangements or adjustments to the Situational Judgement Test (SJT).

Reasonable adjustments

If you have a disability which requires any specific arrangements or adjustments to enable you to attend and complete the SJT and interview, you must:

  • answer Yes to the relevant question on the application form
  • provide details
  • upload your supporting evidence

If your medical evidence is more than 6 months old, and you are not applying for reasonable adjustments on the basis of a long-term condition, you may be asked to provide further information.

The DCT National Recruitment Office (DCTNRO) will be unable to review your request if supporting evidence is not uploaded with your application by Thursday 1 February 2024.

The automated application submission email sent through your Oriel account advises that you should contact the DCTNRO before the application closing date with regards to this.

However, if you have provided details on your application form and uploaded the required evidence, there's no need to contact the DCTNRO and your evidence will be checked after applications close in relation to your requested SJT or interview adjustments.

SJT adjustments

The list below details the possible SJT adjustments. You will be prompted to select from this list if you answer Yes to the relevant question when completing your application form. The DCTNRO will inform you if your SJT adjustment request or requests have been approved or rejected through a message on Oriel.

If any of your approved adjustments are not bookable online you'll need to provide the DCTNRO with 3 dates and 3 Pearson VUE test centre locations in order of preference. This information will be passed onto Pearson VUE and their Customer Service Centre will book your appointment on your behalf.

In some instances, to satisfy requests for adjustments, it may be necessary to schedule a SJT or interview place on a specific date, at a specific time or at a specific location.

You do not need to request an adjustment to change the size of fonts on your screen, because all test takers will be able to change the size of the screen contents at any time using the Ctrl key and + or -.

Requesting to sit near the exit or the toilet is not considered an adjustment. We advise arriving at the test centre early enough to voice your request to the test administrator who will try to accommodate.
